Hiatus Over

I was kind of burned out after the 2004 election and I decided to take some time off from blogging. So, like, I am back now. Hope I didn’t miss too much.

Made the Upgrade

I spent a good portion of the evening upgrading the site to Movable Type 3.0D and figuring out how to include the new commenting stuff without damaging the page design. I think I succeeded but it may take some time to pin everything down. I was probably overly-cautious but I like to be careful. I [...]

Monthly Topics

Without my intending for it, June became RSS Month on Third SuperPower. Next month, we get back to the theme of the site. My intention is to focus on the new “unrest(Symposium: Whither Iran?)”:http://frontpagemag.com/articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=8622 in Iran. Jahangir Amuzegar describes a Third Superpower movement growing there now, the “growing discontent(Iran’s Crumbling Revolution)”:http://www.foreignaffairs.org/20030101faessay10221/jahangir-amuzegar/iran-s-crumbling-revolution.html among the generation born [...]

RSS Standards

When I set this site up, I deliberately chose to setup a single “RSS 2.0 feed(Third Superpower)”:http://www.thirdsuperpower.com/rss/index.xml. To do so, I went over to Mark Pilgrim’s “site(All things Movable Type)”:http://diveintomark.org/archives/2003/02/14/all_things_movable_type.html and acquired a copy of his “RSS 2.0 template(here is an updated RSS 2.0 template that includes Creative Commons data.)”:http://diveintomark.org/public/rss2cc.tmpl. As far as I knew, [...]

Full Disclosure

Another reason why I created this site.

Third Superpower and Google

Guess which website now comes up first on a google search for “third superpower(Google Search: third superpower)”:http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=third+superpower&btnG=Google+Search? Not bad for a site only 8 days old. I can remember when it would take weeks or months for a site to appear.

Colophon

This site is powered by “Movable Type(Movable Type)”:http://www.movabletype.org/. Having used it several times before, I can’t say enough about it. The flexibility and strength increases with every version. And with the new plug-in system, the sky is indeed the limit. The site template is from the “Book of Styles(Book of Styles | No table? No [...]

About

Just what is this site about, anyway? The basic idea for the site came from a Register “article(Anti-war slogan coined, repurposed and Googlewashed… in 42 days)”:http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/6/30087.html by Andrew Orlowski. In the article, Andrew complains how the term “Second Superpower” had been “googlewashed,” a term he continues to try to “popularize(Google washes whiter)”:http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/6/30195.html. Specfically, he directs [...]
