The Importance of Being Civil

Authored by Michael Pate on May 3rd, 2003 at 10:30 PM

A few weeks ago, Dave Winer wrote a piece about CSS which began with the line, “I used to work reasonably well with designers until CSS came along.” A number of people took offense, and the flames are only now beginning to die down. Today, Dave pointed to a post by Jamie Zawinsky which includes the line, “Web designers, and especially blogging web designers, are self-important f***heads. This might be tolerable if they were right, but by and large they’re also dumbasses.” While Jamie is certainly entitled to his opinion, I really don’t think that comment helped him make his point at all.
