Dial-A-Protest

Authored by Michael Pate on June 3rd, 2003 at 11:14 AM

The protesters looted gas stations, pharmacies and other shops, leaving downtown Geneva in a state of chaos. Only a handful of stores were left intact — mainly those which had anti-G-8 or anti-war banners in their windows. Even the bulletproof windows of big banks were smashed. - Terence Hunt

The next big date on the protest calendar is June 21, when organisers say several hundred thousand demonstrators should descend on a European Union summit in northern Greece. Greece, the outgoing EU president, has shifted the summit on security grounds from the city of Thessaloniki to the nearby Halkidiki peninsula, which can be sealed off easily. - Christopher Noble and Jon Boyle

As he and his boys are guzzling beer and dancing with some of the ladies in the bar, one female dance partner questions Johnny: Hey, Johnny, What are you rebelling against? While tapping out a jazzy beat on the top of the jukebox, he raises his eyebrow and drawls his amorphous reason for rebellion: What’ve you got? - The Wild One (1953)
