I haven given up on my July Plan for now. What made me do it?
I respect Dave Winer, I really do. Dave has made a lot of contributions to what we all do. I just wish he wasn’t so mean-spirited. Comments like this do not contribute anything to the discussion. I even think Dave realizes he goes too far sometimes and that is why he removes them. But Dave needs to realize, very little disappears from the Blogosphere (especially when it is one of his quotes).
I don’t know if IBM is trying to manipulate everyone or not. I don’t care. If something usable comes out of Necho (and I think Dave’s sniping is going to make that more likely, not less) I will support it. If not, I won’t. Simple. Nothing to get excited about. Actually, one thing this whole episode has done has been for me to read up a lot more on all of this. And I now have a new appreciation of RSS 1.0. Why? Because it is so non-controversial. Nobody complains about what elements are used or not. Anyway, I expect a lot of great things to happen over the next couple of weeks or so.
And one last heartfelt thing: The main reason I took the time to write this was this post from Dave today. Dave didn’t comment on it, so I am not going to condemn him for it. But if the argument comes down to whether someone has used one of the most self-destructive drugs on the planet or not, it would truly be a shame.
Where did you get the idea that LSD is one of the most self-destructive (user-destroying, I assume is what you mean) drugs on the planet?
I was amused by Dave's post. More people should out themselves as "experienced," though using it as an argument in the fecho wars is a little silly.
