Mainstream Media and the 9th of July

Authored by Michael Pate on July 9th, 2003 at 3:00 PM

Yes, today is Wednesday, the King of Days. But there’s something more important that is supposed to be happening. Over in Iran, July 9 was going to be the day of a massive protest that could signal the downfall of the regime there. I know the secret police have been rounding up demonstrators, but it’s odd that there’s so little about this in the American press. Meanwhile, in comics-related news (bet you wondered where I was going with this), today’s Day by Day cartoon is poignant and funny, and you’ll appreciate it all the more if you know the backstory. - TheHutch

Why is this stuff getting so little big-media attention? Is it the Eason Jordan effect? - Glenn Reynolds

There is surprisingly — shockingly — little coverage of the events. - Jeff Jarvis
