Creating a Favicon

Authored by Michael Pate on November 21st, 2003 at 12:10 AM

The other day I was on Adam Kalsey’s site and followed a link labeled icoformat to a site that offered some free software to create a favicon. While I have created a few (the one for this site is one that I am especially pleased with), I am always looking for a better way to create one.

I won’t be using this way, though. It has to do with the No War logo on the right. It is their site and they have a right to link to anything they wish. But after glancing over where the link leads, I want no part of anything or anyone who believes in drivel like that. Call me close-minded if you wish, but sometimes you have to take a stand.

But if you are arriving here looking for a way to create such an icon, Jeffrey Zeldman offers links to several methods that should create whatever you need. Or if you desire an online method, try the FavIcon Generator.
