I had to make a choice that I didn’t want to make today.
I had planned to vote for John Edwards until he dropped out of the race. I am not saying that I agreed with the things he stood for. Frankly, I could never figure out what he stood for. So, on the off chance that I might agree with him on the issues that he never seemed to want to articulate, I planned a few weeks ago to vote for him. Once he dropped out of the race, I changed my mind.
Looking through the three remaining candidates, they are the funny guy who is directly responsible for the death of an innocent man, the goofy guy who wants to turn the Department of War into the Department of Peace, and the rich guy who loves to support murderous dictators. Not really a choice as I set it.
The last time I made a protest vote was 1992. I voted for Bruce Babbitt, even though he had dropped out of the race by then. In retrospect, he was someone I wouldn’t support but I didn’t know that at the time.
This time, I went back to the candidate who I dislike the least. The person that I thought out of all the nine running a few months best had what it took to be present. I voted for Joe Lieberman.
