Supporting the Troops in Iraq

John Kerry did not.

Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry said Monday he would not support President Bush’s $87 billion request for Iraq and Afghanistan without a dramatic shift in White House policies. ”I’m not going to vote for an open-ended ticket,” Kerry told The Associated Press. - Ron Fournier

John Kerry did.

I don’t think any United States senator is going to abandon our troops and recklessly leave Iraq to whatever follows as a result of simply cutting and running. That’s irresponsible. - John Kerry

John Kerry did not.

The Bush Administration is asking us to pay more and more for its failures – another $87 billion that the American people are being asked to shoulder alone and which America’s middle class is being asked to shoulder disproportionately. Money that could be used here at home – to make health care more affordable, to pay for homeland security, to keep this President’s promise to leave no child behind. - John Kerry

I don’t know how John Kerry and John Edwards can say they supported the war but then opposed the funding for the troops who went to fight the war that the resolution that they supported authorized. - Joe Lieberman

I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it. - John Kerry

How anyone can accuse him of a being a flip-flopper is something of a mystery.
